Thank you to everyone who donated plastic for our Bottlecaps to Benches program. Thank you as well to all those who worked countless hours sorting them all.
The project begun by All Saints Catholic School in the spring of 2019 has reached the next level. Students, parents, and other community volunteers have collected, sorted, and weighed over 6,000 lbs of plastic caps and container lids in exchange for beautiful, colorful plastic benches. This is a program officially named ABC Promise Partnerships Program through a company named Greentree Plastics in Evansville, Indiana.
These 30 durable and environmentally friendly benches will be placed in various locations around Roswell including private schools, churches, and along Main Street in downtown.
Please join us for a photo opportunity and see some of our community partners pick up their bench(es) on Saturday, May 22 at 1:30 pm in the Southwest Printers parking lot located at 110 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
A huge thank you to the wonderful people who worked to make this project a success: All Saints Catholic School, Immanuel Lutheran School, Christ’s Church youth group, Molly Boyles, MainStreet Roswell, City of Roswell RMAC and Keep Roswell Beautiful, Juliana Halvorson, Adis Robertson and friends, Chip Boardman (Hawk’s Automotive), Jim & Shirley Gill (Roswell Seed), Jim & Peter Boyles (drivers), Walgreen’s North, Nature’s Dairy, Southwest Printers, Roswell Chamber of Commerce, CVS Pharmacy, and local residents working many, many hours of sorting and weighing.
Thanks to all, we have three tons of trash not taking up space in our local landfill, but instead, beautifying our city.
We are now accepting sponsors for the benches to help pay for the benches. Please download the form below and fill it out. You can mail it with your check to MainStreet Roswell, PO Box 1328, Roswell, NM 88202. Thank you for your support!
